Q. How much time do I have to reply to a guest invitation?
A. You must reply to an invitation within 7 days in order to create your guest account.If more than 7 days has passed, you will get an "invalid ticket" message if you attempt to click on the invitation link. Your student will have to issue a new invitation from the Hokie SPA Guest Account Access menu.
Q. How do I log in with my guest account? What should my password be?
A: The invitation sent to your third party email account will contain a link to a web site where you can register your guest account and set your password. Guest passwords must follow the same rules as Virginia Tech PID passwords. See Creating Strong Passwords.
Q. I have forgotten my Guest Account password. How do I reset it?
A. Go to:
A password reset ticket will be sent to the email address associated with your guest account. You will have 30 minutes to reset the password on your guest account. If more than 30 minutes has passed, you will get a "No ticket exists" or "Invalid ticket" message if you attempt to click on the password reset link. You must then reset your guest account password again by using the link above.
Q. When I try to log in with my guest account, I get the message "Your password has expired. Click expired link above to reset." What do I do now?
A. Due to Virginia Tech security policy, your password will expire one year from creation. Click the following link to reset your password.

Q. My daughter says she invited me to be a guest to view her student information, but I never got the email. What should I do now?
A. First check your spam filters for the guest account invitation email and add PleaseDoNotReply@vt.edu to your address book. She should then go to the Hokie SPA's Guest Account Access page, and issue you another invitation.
Q. When I register as a guest, do I need to give my address and phone number?
A. You are only required to enter your first and last name. Entering other data is optional.
Q: When does my guest account expire?
A: Your guest account will expire one year from your last guest access login.
Q: What do I do if my guest account expires?
A: If your guest account expires, your sponsor (Virginia Tech student or employee) will need to issue another invitation to your third party email account. You will then validate your account and create a new password.
Q. I have logged in to my son's Financial Aid page, but it says "No award information is available for you at this time." What should I do?
A. You should contact the Financial Aid office at (540) 231-5179 or email finaid@vt.edu.

If your Guest Account has been created, you can request a password reset. If you get a message that your Guest Account is unknown, your sponsor (Virginia Tech student or employee) will have to issue a new guest invitation to you.
Q. When I try to log in with my guest account, I get the message "You are not authorized to view any student information." What should I do?
A. If you get a message that your Guest Account is not authorized, your sponsor (Virginia Tech student or employee) has removed all access to view any information. You will be unable to log in until your guest account has been granted access to view student information.

Q: How do I create a guest account?
A: You may invite a guest to view your Financial Aid information by logging in to the Hokie SPA with your PID and password, clicking on the Hokie Spa tab at the top, and scrolling down to the Guest Account Access link.

Q. I no longer want my guest to see my student information. How do I remove his access?
A. In the Guest Account Access page inside Hokie SPA, check the box for "Remove Access" next to your guest's email address, and click the "Remove Access" button below. You should see a confirmation that your guest's access has been removed. Your guest will receive a notification by email.
Q: I invited my mother to have a guest account, but she waited more than 7 days to read the invitation, and now she gets a "ticket invalid" message. What should I do?
A: You will need to send another invitation from the Hokie SPA Guest Account Access link.
Q. My sibling attends Virginia Tech, and has already invited our father to have a guest account. How do I allow him to see my financial aid information?
A. When you go to the Guest Account Access link in the Hokie SPA, you can specify the email address for your guest. If your guest already has an account, he will receive an email notification that you have granted him access to your student information. He will not need to set up another guest account.
Q. My mother changed her name, and wants to put her new name on her guest account. What should she do?

A. If you want her to have access through her new email account, you should issue an invitation to the new email account through the Guest Account Access link in the Hokie SPA. If she is no longer using her old email address, she should delete the associated guest account through the Guest Account Management service at:
